Here is a list of upcoming Nordic Walking classes. I operate a strict sign-up policy, so please contact me if you would like to enrol in any of these sessions.
I will provide poles and equipment free of charge for all tester and improver classes. Should you wish to purchase your own poles afterwards, I keep a small supply or can put you in contact with reputable suppliers. There is a lot of difference in quality, feel and price between various brands of nordic walking poles, so please ask me for advice before committing to any purchase. The poles often used for hiking or skiing are not the same, and you will not be able to learn the correct technique or maximise its effectiveness.
Taster sessions last approximately 1 hour and allow you to experience using the poles and learn the basic technique. Completing the two session improver workshop is a prerequisite for attending our regular walks, and gives more individual attention and experience of walking over different terrain, to ensure that everyone has a safe and effective technique whilst walking within their own capabilities.
Taster sessions / improver workshop - I am currently operating a 'waiting list' for taster sessions and improver workshops. I am very happy to hold small group or private sessions, so please contact me if you are interested or want further details.
There is a regular walk schedule for those who have already completed the improver workshop or are experienced Nordic Walkers (please contact me first to confirm). Please let me know prior to a walk if you are hoping to attend so I know how many people I am expecting.
Please pay attention to the grading of the walks ie slow or faster pace, as although we walk mainly as a group and ensure that nobody gets left behind, it is more difficult in the faster group walks to cater for all abilities. It is not our intention to race around the countryside at breakneck speed, but rather to experience the benefits of Nordic Walking whilst enjoying fresh air, beautiful scenery and good company. Please ask if you have any questions about which walk would suit you best.
The cost of these walks booked on an individual basis is £6 per class including pole hire. If you have your own poles the cost is reduced to £5.00 per class. For even better pricing, please purchase a 10 session card for £50 including pole hire or £40 with your own poles. These cards are valid for 6 months from the date of purchase.
Saturday 14th August - Seaton Valley Country Park 1:30pm. An approximately 2 hour nordic walk over mainly flat terrain (optional hill). We will meet in the car park at Seaton and parking may be an issue (Summer season), so please contact me if you would like to come. I will be able to pick anyone up from the layby just past the Kernow Mill (Trerulefoot) at 1:10pm to save on driving and car park fees. Please let me know if you are expecting to come on the walk so I know to wait if you are delayed.
Saturday 21st August - Sadly there will be no nordic walk this week as I am away in Norway on business - hoping to get in some real 'Nordic' walking whilst I am there!
