Here is a list of upcoming Nordic Walking classes. I operate a strict sign-up policy, so please contact me if you would like to enrol in any of these sessions.
I will provide poles and equipment free of charge for all tester and improver classes. Should you wish to purchase your own poles afterwards, I keep a small supply or can put you in contact with reputable suppliers. There is a lot of difference in quality, feel and price between various brands of nordic walking poles, so please ask me for advice before committing to any purchase. The poles often used for hiking or skiing are not the same, and you will not be able to learn the correct technique or maximise its effectiveness.
Taster sessions last approximately 1 hour and allow you to experience using the poles and learn the basic technique. Completing the two session improver workshop is a prerequisite for attending our regular walks, and gives more individual attention and experience of walking over different terrain, to ensure that everyone has a safe and effective technique whilst walking within their own capabilities.
Sunday June 13th - FREE Nordic Walking Taster - 10:30-11:15am - Please contact me before you attend as you will not be able to register on the day. Salt Mill Park - Saltash
Sunday 20th June - half day improver workshop - 11:00am-14:00pm - Saltash Nature Reserve £20 total. Fingers crossed the weather will be kind, so please bring a packed lunch. This class is only open to those who have previously attended a taster session, and is a pre-requisite for joining the regualr walk programme. Please contact me for more details.
There is a regular walk schedule for those who have already completed the improver workshop or are experienced Nordic Walkers (please contact me first to confirm). Please let me know prior to a walk if you are hoping to attend so I know how many people I am expecting.
Please pay attention to the grading of the walks ie slow or faster pace, as although we walk mainly as a group and ensure that nobody gets left behind, it is more difficult in the faster group walks to cater for all abilities. It is not our intention to race around the countryside at breakneck speed, but rather to experience the benefits of Nordic Walking whilst enjoying fresh air, beautiful scenery and good company. Please ask if you have any questions about which walk would suit you best.
The cost of these walks booked on an individual basis is £6 per class including pole hire. If you have your own poles the cost is reduced to £5.00 per class. For even better pricing, please purchase a 10 session card for £50 including pole hire or £40 with your own poles. These cards are valid for 6 months from the date of purchase.
Sunday 11th July (*not Saturday*) - Cotehele. Meet at 1:30pm in the bottom car park by the river. An approximately 2 hour fitness walk heading to Calstock and beyond. As always a good bit of up and down, unavoidable in this area, but lovely views and maybe tea in the Edgecumbe Arms at the end.
POSTPONED - The walk arranged for Sunday 25th July will now be held on Sunday 1st August. Meet in the car park in Tideford (up the road towards Blunts on the north side of the A38 - car park is right hand side opposite the Rod and Line Pub). If this is full there should be plenty of alternate parking on the roadside in the village. Meet at 1:30pm for an approximately 2 hour walk with as usual some ups and downs, some off road. Please let me know if you are hoping to be there so I know how many to expect.
